Church sound systems range anywhere from the use of a couple of microphones to large concert venue-type installations. If your church has a more basic setup and needs improving, or if your church is brand new and needs to start from the beginning, there are three "W's" to consider. *What*, *Worship* and *Who*. As we work through the "W Factors," we'll see the basic necessities and the how-to's start to take shape when it comes to fixing or building smaller church sound systems.

This breakout will examine the what, why, and how behind church lighting. After covering several basic components to lighting like  types of lights, functions of lighting, lighting angles, and components of a lighting system, we will dive into the role of lighting in church, what lighting is communicating, why and where you should and shouldn’t use lights in your church.

Anyone can punch some buttons and turn lights on, but good lighting requires purpose, intentionality, and time. To effectively use lighting, techs must understand the functions and limits of their lights, and how to use them to create looks that support the message and goal of the service. This breakout will look at more advanced design and technical aspects of lighting. We will discuss lighting in stage design and creativity, designing lighting effects and palettes, lighting for video, lighting networks, lighting maintenance, and lighting system care and planning.
